Does the word "budget" cause a physical reaction? Does the thought of a budget make you angry or frustrated? Do you think they're for other people but just don't work for you? Or do you wonder what the big deal is whether you make one or not? 

Budgets can create a negative reaction because they're seen as constrictive. The assumption is "If I budget I can't do anything; I won't be able to have any fun." This couldn't  be further from the truth. It's about YOU calling the shots and having FUN - minus the guilt.

Imagine putting on a backpack filled with rocks. The weight of it begins to affect you immediately. Your shoulders and back buckle, you feel pressure in your knees, your muscles clench and your body aches as you struggle to carry the additional weight. The simplest of tasks become challenging and you are no longer able to do the things you want because of what you’re carrying. 

As time goes on your body adjusts to the added load and you forget it's there. It’s only when someone helps you take off the backpack that you realize how much of a toll it was taking on you  - just how heavy it really was. You’re can move around easily, you can get so much more done.  You. Are. Free.

Carrying debt is an added weight. Things can feel hopeless as you struggle to get out from under it. You can’t do things you want to do.  You can't live the life you were meant to live. 

Have you ever thought about going bungee jumping or skydiving? Maybe the thought crossed your mind and you immediately tossed it out on its ear. Or you decided that these adventures are right up your alley.

Imaging jumping out of a plane without a functioning parachute or taking a leap off a high ledge with a bungee cord that isn’t anchored to anything. Doesn’t sound too fun does it? In fact, if anyone tried to jump out of a plane without a parachute you’d stop them, right? If your friend was about to bungee off a cliff and you realized the end of the cord was loose, you’d hold your friend back, correct? Because you’d know the consequence would be them going “kersplat” once they hit the ground, and no one wants that!
